A new restaurant which has set itself up in downtown Dayton, Table 33 is an interesting concept; focusing on locally-produced ingredients which are constructed into more creative recipes for lighter cuisine, while a friendly bar in the center of the establishment offers an inviting place to grab a drink in the evening. While the concept remains new and its ideas refined, Table 33 has begun to differentiate itself in a way its predecessors did not, as a place for greater experimentation and a push to grow, make, and eat local.

The Drunken Waffle

A Dayton-area mobile food operation which serves a host of waffle-themed foods “based on beer,” The Drunken Waffle can be found at the breweries and food truck rallies around town, often a spot that offers thick and hearty comfort food to go with a few good local beers. While the spot has a lot of great things to offer, the ever-changing menu is what really makes it a great place to visit. You can expect to find more than a few good things to try here.

Peachtree Southern Kitchen & Cocktails

The homey, Cleveland suburb of Hudson has a lot of little charms of a small Midwestern town. In the midst of a town like this it’s natural to have a country kitchen-type restaurant, a little of an old-fashioned feel and a very comforting menu of tried and true Southern cuisine favorites. With Hudson a place that feels a little lost in time, this restaurant really does bring comfort with every bite.

Mimi’s Cafe

With about 100 locations around the country, Mimi’s Cafe started in California, moved to Texas, and has since spread quickly with its very attractive concept of French-inspired casual dining fare. The spot offers a generally very different menu of items to be enjoyed, ranging from expansive breakfasts to hearty lunches of many kinds. The spot tends to pop up in a few locations in cities all over the country, preferring nice neighborhoods and cultured palettes. The spot has something interesting to offer, that’s for sure.

Harris Grill

As Shadyside has rapidly developed in east Pittsburgh, its new restaurant concepts have thrived with the advent of many new concepts springing up. Harris Grill does burgers, sandwiches, and other contemporary cuisine like few others. But where this spot really thrives, though, is in a very favorite meal where it faces stiff competition in this city: brunch. But in spite of the great well-known national brunch corners of Steel City, this spot holds its own handsomely.

Lucky’s Taproom & Eatery

Oregon District has a lot of bars with a lot of good bar food, and when you first walk through downtown Dayton’s main nightlife spot, you might not at first set your sights on the small operation that is Lucky’s. But make no mistake, this spot is much beloved by Dayton city-dwellers. Whether they’re making use of the spot’s extensive tap list or just looking to sample one of the burgers or sandwiches that fill its menu, people come to this spot in droves. The hype leaves you wondering, is it worth a try? The answer is yes.

Taste of Belgium

It’s certainly one of the hippest spots in Cincinnati, and Taste of Belgium now has three locations along with a little waffle stand in the Findlay Market. The place has a little bit of a lot of things about it; it’s a bistro concept that specializes in waffle creations, not just the breakfast-y kind, but also it’s a bar with a serious variety of beers, wines, and mixed drinks. At meal time, expect to see a massive crowd of people making its way through the doors. People like the place a lot.

Uptown Grill

Uptown Grill is a relatively new business to Athens. Opened only this summer, the walk-up location offers exactly six grilled items: Angus burgers, Italian sausage, Bratwurst, Philly Cheese Steaks, chicken fajita wraps and grilled chicken breast. The simple menu comes from the owner, an Angus beef farmer who owns the adjacent printing shop.
