Green Symphony

While Manhattan is packed to the gills with greasy pizza, fatty junk food and sugary desserts, Green Symphony is a shrine to healthy foods. Featuring a convenience store of Protein bars, organic popcorn, teas and juices, kale chips and nutritional baked goods, this spot is visited by body builders, runners and altogether a fit clientele. You wouldn’t immediately notice it but the place has a menu of food beyond smoothies and chopped fruit.

Kahn’s Desserts

Capitalizing on the meteoric resurgence of the East Nashville neighborhood, Kahn’s Desserts opened its doors in 2011 as a vegan bakery with inspiration that came from the nearby Wild Cow Vegetarian Restaurant. And Kahn’s has the concept covered; selling products with no dairy, eggs, refined sugar, bleached flour, or animal products. It’s a very difficult thing to make — baking with an entirely different set of staples, and yet still coming up with something sweet and delicious. But this spot shows just how advanced, and how delicious, vegan baking has become. This spot is fantastic.

The Wild Cow

It’s amazing to watch the revival of East Nashville; this neighborhood has paved the way for a lot of young people and energy to build a once depressed area of the fast-changing city. In that world, The Wild Cow is one of the hot progressive concepts that has thrived in the city. This vegetarian-focused restaurant makes use of the most creative ingredients and non-meat options to produce great cuisine. It’s a difficult prospect to make such a restaurant thrive in the suburbs, but Nashville supports concepts like this one well.

Dulce Vegan Bakery

Modern American cuisine is a tricky thing. There are so many different ideas and concepts coming and going from today’s dining scene. It’s what makes writing food blogs like this one so fun. Hundreds of reviews later, though, some of the concepts blend together, some of the ideas become repetitive.
But every now and then you find something truly amazing. Atlanta is home to one of those things. And it is called Dulce Vegan Bakery. Today’s diner wants to find something interesting to eat on a healthier note. But vegetarian and vegan concepts that make amazing food are hard to find. Which is why Dulce is worth a special visit.

Native Foods Cafe

A small but progressive chain founded in Palm Springs, California, Native Foods Cafe has 13 locations throughout the United States, most of which are in the vegetarian concept’s home state. Though the cafe has a fun and bright atmosphere, it’s got a deliciously serious mission: making sustainable, organic and holistic food. Though progressive-minded Californians are more open minded to this kind of food, it’s pleasant to see it creeping ever eastward and into the Midwest, as Chicago has become the home of three stores. Dubbing itself “America’s fast casual vegan restaurant” I hope to see big things from this chain.
