A lot of the neighborhoods around Dayton sport community bars that you’d be hard-pressed to hear about unless you knew those streets well. It’s not surprising to see the sort of cult following that has come with Slyders Tavern. This spot sits in the Belmont neighborhood and is very much sort of a dive bar with the classic pub grub menu. This spot keeps it simple and its customer base can truly attest that it’s all about the neighborhood at Slyders.
The food menu is pretty straightforward, the bar food that really can be found in any bar across town, with the greasy apps like nachos and fries, to the chicken wings, to sandwiches wraps and other kinds of pub food. All of it of course goes well with the beers on tap. The burgers themselves are great; the bacon cheeseburger is a half-pound sandwich, the meat is cooked well done, and it’s topped with all kinds of veggies, and of course, bacon and cheese of your choice. The burger comes with potato chips or, if you prefer, fries or onion rings. There are plenty of options and they’re pretty good.
The space is interesting, it seems to bring out mainly a crowd of neighborhood folks, and a price point that is pretty reasonable. The facilities are sort of dated, like the place could use a makeover, but it seems sort of like it isn’t really standing on decorum like that. Instead, it’s a simple spot where you can grab a drink and enjoy the experience.
All in all, the staff is nice, the food is decent, and Slyder’s is a good community watering hole that represents the Belmont neighborhood well.
- The burgers and wings are the items on the menu that bring out the most people. Still, the experience is really good for many other menu items, too.
- The beers on tap include a lot of inexpensive American brands, and of course a ton of seasonal craft beers to try if you’re up for that sort of thing.
- There new beers on tap are frequently highlighted on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
