The transformation that Nashville has undergone in the past few years has been amazing. All over Music City, the energy infused by a surge in jobs and young people has completely redone entire neighborhoods. With all the energy flowing here, it’s no surprise that new and exciting restaurant concepts have sprung up and risen in prominence with their experimental concepts. The Pharmacy Burger Parlor, which has flourished in East Nashville, has emerged as one of the hottest spots in town, with a creative menu of massive burgers and fries that brings in people in droves.
So the burgers on the menu are all the rage here, and they’re absolutely the first, last, and every item you should get when you visit The Pharmacy. The burgers are made with 100 percent Tennessee beef — a ton of it — so if you go for small appetites, be ready to take some home.
Easily the best burger on the menu is the farm burger. This behemoth is topped with the best of breakfast: an egg, bacon, and ham, and a maple mustard that ties everything together beautifully. It’s like an explosion of breakfast in your mouth. Absolutely perfect take on the ‘breakfast burger’ that so many other people are trying to do. This one is a five-star punch in every bite, the juicy beef, the egg, the crunchy bacon, the salty ham and the sweet maple. Really, it’s all of the best things about burgers wrapped up into one package.
Of course the sides have to be spoken for. They’re all simple potato things, relatively speaking, like french fries, tater tots, sweet potato fries and more. The texture is what hits home. The fries are soft, not crunchy and overcooked. They’re topped with big grain salt too. Perfect with a delicious burger. Is your mouth watering yet? This is easily one of the best burgers I have ever eaten.
The spot isn’t just a burger place, but a full-fledged bar with a full 50 beers on tap, most of them craft brews from not only small breweries around the U.S. but also Germany and Europe as well. Is there a kind of beer that pairs with your burger? Just ask, and you might be blown away by the experience. That said, the lines are long here: the word is out about this place. Come in at noon and you’ll find yourself in a 30+ minute wait…unless you decide to eat outside. I went and was told there was a 45 minute wait for indoors, but was seated immediately outside. Hot day, but there’s plenty of shade. One way or another, you simply must go to the Pharmacy. It’s one of the best burgers in town.
- There are big lines during rush hours, but if you choose to eat outside you might cut down on the line quickly.
- I’ll be honest and tell you I know someone who got mugged when they parked down the street from this spot as they walked to their car. Be safe, diners.
- Small appetite? These burgers are huge, be ready to have leftovers.
