With so many bars and fast food joints around The Greene in Beavercreek, one struggles to find healthy food to eat when heading to one of Dayton’s most active hangouts. A welcome addition among these, That Crepe Place is a breath of fresh air. The bright little shop may not have a lot of room, but it’s all the more pleasant in the summer, when hungry patrons take their food and go, wandering amongst the nearby shops. I suppose I should make it clear beyond a doubt and say the entire menu here consists of crepe creations.

So the menu here has a few different kinds of crepes; there are a number of savory options, most of which have a healthy amount of meat and vegetables, an d a dessert side with a lot of different dessert items. Some are delightfully simple – one crepe is literally just smeared with ample amounts of nutella – while others have a complex array of items. The vegetarian crepe which I tried was good, it had a great sampling of vegetables like roasted peppers and spinach, which I might add go really well in a crepe. I’ve never tried a savory crepe before.

It’s a shame, I’d thought there vegetarian crepe would be a leaner and lighter item, but it’s got more cheese to make up for the lack of meat substance. It’s still delicious, but it’s not necessarily lean like you’d imagine a crepe. Still, the selection of crepes is filling as it is creative; if the chipotle crepe doesn’t sound delicious with its sauce, then the Mediterranean crepe with its grilled chicken will wow you instead. All of the crepes are grilled on a stone girdle, and while they sometimes require a little bit of a wait, the end result is well worth the time.

The atmosphere of the little restaurant is just right for The Greene. The thing you really have to love about the outdoor shopping center is that, especially in the summer, every business is very welcoming to people who are just milling back and forth through the shops and the large central space. There is seating inside the restaurant if you’re trying to stay out of the sun, but there’s more seating on the sidewalk, and of course the live music and jumping fountains are a short walk away.

Whether you’re looking for a hearty meal without the grease, or if you’re just looking for a quick dessert to satisfy a sweet tooth, That Crepe Place definitely has something you’ll like.

Recommendations

  • Among the savory crepes, I would suggest the Chipotle or Mediterranean varieties. I liked the vegetarian crepe, but it isn’t
  • Indoor seating is at a premium, but if the weather is good, this shouldn’t be a problem.
  • This is definitely a good place for a leaner desert too.
