The Donut Haus
Tucked into a small strip near Springboro’s main stretch, The Donut Haus Bakery & Custom Cakes is a home-grown doughnut shop bringing early risers some much needed pastry pleasure. The tiny little shop has a modest selection of glazed and sprinkled goods, from doughnuts and cinnamon rolls to cream cones, and is highly appreciated by locals as a treasured gem of the town. There are a lot of old-types who have been patronizing the place for years as the only place they’ll go to get their morning started. I’m not sure I’m ready to jump on the bandwagon.
McHappy’s Bake Shoppe
With five locations in the Athens-Marietta-Parkersburg triangle, McHappy’s embodies the small, friendly businesses model seen throughout Appalachia. Innocuous from the outside, it’s easy to pass a place as mild as this one every day and not realize it’s actually a bakery. Inside though, you’ll find a friendly little counter overflowing with sweet pastries, from doughnuts to muffins, cinnamon rolls, brownies and cakes. This place is out to satisfy a sweet tooth in as many creamy, gooey ways as possible. It’s a family friendly place where parents reward their kids and families get snacks together in the morning.
West 82 Food Court
Located in Ohio University’s Baker University Center, West 82 Food Court is supposed to be the main place for the general public comes to eat when on campus. Aimed at off-campus students, visitors, and the general public, West 82 is supposed to have something for everyone — half a dozen food stalls offer small menus of various flavors.
Court Street Diner
The Court Street Diner fits the mold of a classic 50′s classic American rail car diner on the outside. However, the flavors the local charm offer are anything but outdated. Court Street Diner offers classic food at all times of the day, and it’s just so good. There are more than a few reasons to come back to the restaurant, from its outstanding daily specials to the very comfortable, classic environment.
