Blue Chip Cookies is a small group of Cincinnati bakeries you’ll tend to find nestled in shopping centers or tiny stores in the backwater hamlets throughout the city. You might otherwise be inclined to pass by them without noticing, except the smell of fresh cookies always seems to be wafting your way. There are many bakeries to sample in this city, and many competitors for Cincinnati’s best cookie. Blue Chip certainly seems to have attracted a steady following for its always-warm, always-buttery wonderful cookie flavors.
The basic blue chip cookie is crisp and crunchy, and topped with a number of ingredients. I prefer them to be softer, but I know there are just as many people who don’t. That said, the cookies are regularly kept warm so the chocolate is gooey like they just came out of the oven. I do like the basic chocolate chip variety, though there are also, for example, a white chocolate chip macadamia nut variety, and a few other classic cookie types. For the convenience of them, why not? They’re always served to-go, though I wouldn’t suggest trying to take a batch and save it for longer than a day or two, as they tend to get dried out, which is a little frustrating. But who likes cold cookies, anyway?
When I find myself at a food court or a shopping center and ready for a little dessert, there always seems to be a Blue Chip Cookie nearby to tempt me with its flavors. If you’re the type who just needs a warm, crunchy cookie to make their day, then you definitely won’t go wrong at Blue Chip.
Flavors to try: The classic chocolate chip or the white chocolate chip macadamia nut are my favorites.
